As promised here are some photos of a few pieces I’m currently working on. The first photo in each group shows a painting in progress, while the second shows the sketch on which it is based.
I do my sketches in ball point pen and start them by scribbling on the page. Using the lines of the scribbles as a framework, and giving my intuition as free reign as possible, I continue the sketch by favoring and darkening certain lines, creating new ones, and defining space. The result is a collection of enigmatic shapes and forms working to articulate themselves in an uncertain space.
Using a projector, I then transfer the sketch onto a panel or canvas. After this, I begin the actual painting process by applying several transparent layers, which is the stage where most of these pieces are at presently. Stay tuned for further developments…
